Top Five New Year's Eve Parties in SF and NY
The holiday season is officially upon us and I gotta be honest, it sneaks up on me every year. I always feel like one morning I wake up and realize I’m surrounded by Christmas trees and holiday Starbucks cups. Whether you love it or hate it’s here. And I’m sure your holiday calendar is already getting booked. I wish you the best of luck getting through this crazy time of work parties, friend gatherings, and family time together. It can feel like the long crawl to the finish line but it’s all worth it for New Year’s Eve.
Of course, my favorite part of New Year’s besides the epic parties is planning my outfit. It inevitably includes sequins. This is the one holiday where you can bust out the fancy dress that it is way over the top with sparkles and shine and make a night of it. Of course, I highly recommend adding an Elevate Cape to your stellar outfit. You will be sure to stand out on this special night and ring in the New Year elevated.
Okay, drum roll please, below are my top five suggestions for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day parties in San Francisco and New York.
Bonobo provides an intergalactic space trip on the dance floor and this venue is a fun place to celebrate. The party will roll right into their New Year’s Day party featuring Claptone starting at 6am. There’s a two hour break so maybe go get some breakfast and a new outfit before returning. This will definitely be a fun party and a great start to 2020.
I LOVE me some Afrolicious. This band is a fun mash-up of funk, soul, and Afrobeats. They will get you moving all night long.
This is where I’ll be ringing in the new decade with my absolute favorite funk band in the whole world. Tickets are pricey but include an open bar and rumor has it there will be a balloon drop at the stroke of midnight. Bring your capes and your funky dance moves!
No matter what your plans are on New Year’s Eve make sure to save some energy in the tank for Breakfast of Champions on New Year’s Day. It starts at 4am so you can roll right in from whatever party you’re enjoying. Or if you’re older like me take a little cat nap between parties before catching Lee Burridge and Jan Blomqvist. Did I mention this is not to be missed???? For those brave of heart the parties keeps going at Supper of Survivors.
Enjoy the last show ever at Mezzanine hosted by Dirty Bird. Claude will get you dancing right into the new decade. Ring in the New Year and say goodbye to this legendary San Francisco venue.
Start your night off right at 99 Scott Studio for the Golden Era: New Year’s Eve party. This amazing space in Brooklyn will set the tone for your best year ever. They’ve even got an open champagne bar from 9-10pm…YUM!
When you’re done with Golden Era roll down the block about ten minutes away to House of Yes for Seize the Day hosted by Bubbles and Bass at 5:30am. That’s right your favorite sunrise playa spot will be hosting an amazing dance party to get you vibing right into 2020.
If you’re looking for a bigger party you want to head to the Brooklyn Mirage for Cityfox Odyssey. This space is amazing with four separate rooms and a large outdoor space. You’ll definitely need a cape to keep warm! And of course, you don’t want to miss my old school favorite dj’s Sasha & John Digweed.
For a newer party in town head to Public Records for their first New Year’s party. They have a great lineup, two rooms of entertainment, and a drink voucher with your ticket. Can you tell I like freebies?
Okay I can’t finish this lineup without including this legendary jam band. They play MSG every New Year’s and throw an epic show to ring in the new year. Tickets sold out long ago but you can use your favorite ticket resell site to join in on this party.
Alright, those are my recommendations. I can’t wait to hear what you end up doing and I hope to see you elevated! Happy early New Year’s everyone.
